Kamari McNeil Killed in Sunn Aire Shooting, Wilmington Police Department Investigates Teen’s Death.
WILMINGTON, N.C. – Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 17-year-old Kamari McNeil on Monday, March 23, 2026, in the Sunn Aire neighborhood of Wilmington. Officers responded just before 3:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of Sunn Aire Court.
When police arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. McNeil was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officers immediately secured the area and began gathering evidence as part of an active homicide investigation.
According to officials, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and review any available surveillance footage from the area. Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the case.
