Richland Tragedy: Beloved Mother Teresa Killed in Devastating Semi-Truck Crash as Granddaughter Survives.

RICHLAND, Wash. — A heartbreaking crash at the intersection of Duportail Street and State Route 240 on Friday night has left a family grieving the loss of a beloved mother and grandmother, identified by relatives as Teresa. The tragic collision occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. when a semi-truck struck the driver’s side of a small SUV, resulting in a devastating outcome that has shaken the Tri-Cities community.

According to authorities, the semi-truck came to rest on the shoulder of SR 240 while the SUV remained in the roadway. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but at least one person was pronounced dead. Later, Teresa’s daughter shared the painful news that her mother had lost her life in the crash. Her 8-year-old daughter, who was also in the vehicle, survived and is currently recovering in the hospital.

In an emotional message, Teresa’s daughter urged the public to stop spreading rumors surrounding the incident. She stated that, according to information provided by the Washington State Patrol, the semi-truck driver was not intoxicated. Despite her unimaginable loss, she expressed forgiveness toward the driver, saying that her mother would have wanted compassion rather than hatred.

The grieving family is now calling for improved traffic safety measures along the bypass, citing ongoing concerns about heavy semi-truck traffic and repeated reports of drivers running red lights in the area. They are also seeking witnesses, photos, and video footage that may help provide answers about the moments leading up to the fatal crash.

As the investigation continues, family, friends, and community members are remembering Teresa as a cherished hero whose loss will be deeply felt for years to come.
