The family, friends, and loved ones of Joseph J. Pagano Jr., 34, of Manahawkin, New Jersey, are facing an unimaginable loss following a tragic incident on the Atlantic City Expressway that claimed his life on the night of June 20, 2026.
According to authorities, Joseph was involved in an earlier three-vehicle crash while driving his Dodge pickup truck along the westbound side of the expressway in Hamilton Township. Thankfully, no injuries were reported from that initial collision. After pulling onto the shoulder, Joseph exited his vehicle and became a pedestrian on the roadway.
Investigators say that while attempting to cross the westbound lanes near milepost 11.3, Joseph was struck by a Nissan SUV traveling in the left lane. The impact led to a second crash moments later when a Kia collided with the Nissan. Six people involved in the secondary collision suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
