Texas City Shooting Tragedy: Nakia Kelley Killed, Kristian McMurrin Charged with Murder.

 

Nakia Kelley, a 25-year-old Texas City resident, was tragically killed and another individual was wounded in a shooting on June 23, 2026, leading to the arrest of 26-year-old Kristian McMurrin, who now faces charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The devastating incident has left Kelley’s loved ones grieving while the community seeks answers about the circumstances surrounding the fatal violence.

 

According to the Texas City Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:45 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 3400 block of 9th Avenue North. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately requested emergency medical assistance.

 

Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Kelley later died from the injuries she sustained. Authorities have not released the identity or medical condition of the surviving victim.

 

Investigators launched an extensive investigation and identified Kristian McMurrin as the suspected gunman. Law enforcement officers located and arrested him later that same day without incident. Following a review of the evidence, the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office formally accepted charges against McMurrin.

 

McMurrin has been charged with Murder in connection with Kelley’s death and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon related to the shooting of the second victim. He remains in custody awaiting further court proceedings.

 

Police say the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to determine a motive behind the deadly shooting that claimed the life of Nakia Kelley.
