Webster Tragedy, 10-Year-Old Marleigh Rose Guevara Killed in Devastating Crash as Community Prepares Vigil.
A wave of grief has swept through the town of Webster following the tragic death of 10-year-old Marleigh Rose Guevara, who was fatally struck by a vehicle on Saturday afternoon. The heartbreaking incident has left residents shaken and a family mourning an unimaginable loss.
According to the Webster Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 12:49 p.m. after reports of a crash involving a pedestrian. When emergency responders arrived, they found Marleigh unresponsive after being struck by a car. In a desperate effort to save her life, a passerby equipped with an automated external defibrillator immediately began CPR before first responders took over life-saving measures.
Despite their efforts, Marleigh was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver involved in the crash was identified as 35-year-old Sherry Mae Plitouke of Southbridge. As of Monday morning, authorities confirmed that no arrests had been made.
The investigation remains ongoing, with assistance from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In the wake of the tragedy, the community is coming together to honor Marleigh’s life. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. at 535 School Street, where friends, family, and neighbors will gather to remember a young life taken far too soon and to support one another in shared sorrow.
