Deadly Shooting in Belleville, 20-Year-Old Montavion Conrad Dies After Gunfire Erupts at Belleville Crossing.
A tragic shooting in Belleville has claimed the life of a young man and led to the arrest of two suspects following a brief pursuit and crash. Authorities confirmed that the victim has been identified as 20-year-old Montavion Conrad, a resident of Belleville.
According to the St. Clair County Coroner’s Office, the shooting occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the 5800 block of Belleville Crossing. When officers from the Belleville Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Conrad suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police officers and emergency medical personnel immediately attempted to render aid before Conrad was rushed to Belleville Memorial Hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at 4:17 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene were able to provide investigators with information about a suspect vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting. Shortly after the incident, a Belleville police officer located the vehicle, which then fled from law enforcement.
Authorities say the vehicle eventually crashed in the 6600 block of Old St. Louis Road. Following the crash, two suspects reportedly ran from the vehicle on foot in an attempt to escape. Multiple officers from several local agencies responded and quickly established a perimeter around the area.
After a search of the surrounding neighborhood, police successfully took two suspects into custody. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
The sudden loss of Montavion Conrad has left family, friends, and members of the Belleville community mourning a life taken far too soon. Authorities are expected to release more information as the investigation progresses.
