The Nassau County Police Department reported that 53-year-old Elena Crowley, a resident of Wantagh, was hit by a GMC pickup truck while crossing near the intersection of Lufberry Avenue and Briard Street. The incident occurred at approximately 5:22 p.m. when the vehicle was attempting to turn southbound onto Briard Street from the westbound side of Lufberry Avenue.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene after the collision was reported. Crowley was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead from her injuries shortly after arriving.
