WESTPORT, Mass. — A devastating motorcycle crash on Saturday night has claimed the life of 29-year-old Fall River resident John Soares IV, leaving a community mourning a life lost far too soon. According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the fatal incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the area of 178 Main Road in Westport.

Emergency responders, including Westport Police and EMS, arrived at the scene to find a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that had veered off the roadway and sustained significant damage. John Soares IV, who was identified as the operator and sole individual involved in the crash, was discovered approximately 50 feet from the motorcycle with severe, life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to assess the situation, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators noted that a nearby utility pole and stone wall appeared to have been struck during the crash, indicating the force and severity of the impact. The exact sequence of events leading up to the accident remains unclear, and authorities are working to determine what may have caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.

The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office, along with the Westport Police Department, is actively investigating the crash.
