Saskatchewan RCMP continue to investigate the suspicious death of Steven Beatty, 24, of Timber Bay, whose death has prompted an active homicide investigation on Montreal Lake First Nation. As investigators work to determine exactly what happened, authorities have emphasized that no suspect information has been released at this time, and the case remains in its early stages.
According to RCMP, officers from the Montreal Lake and Waskesiu detachments were dispatched to a residence at approximately 1:10 a.m. on June 1, 2026, after receiving a report of an injured male inside a home. Upon arrival, officers located Steven Beatty and immediately began providing emergency first aid while awaiting medical personnel.
Emergency Medical Services soon arrived and continued lifesaving efforts. Tragically, despite those efforts, Beatty was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following an initial assessment, investigators determined that the circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious. The Saskatchewan RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit subsequently assumed responsibility for the case and is now leading the investigation.
At this stage, authorities have not identified or announced any suspect, person of interest, or arrests connected to the case. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, conduct interviews, and examine the circumstances that led to Beatty’s death. Officials have stated that releasing premature information could compromise the ongoing investigation.
The lack of publicly available suspect information has left many community members awaiting answers as police work to establish a complete timeline of events.
RCMP are urging anyone who may have information about the incident, no matter how minor it may seem, to come forward and assist investigators. Authorities believe public cooperation could prove vital in advancing the case.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on seeking justice for Steven Beatty and providing support to his grieving family and loved ones during this difficult time. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Saskatchewan RCMP.
