Forever a Panther: Centralia Student-Athlete Hunter Hull Dies Following Tragic Boone County Crash.

 

The Centralia community is grieving the devastating loss of Hunter Hull, a 17-year-old Centralia High School student and talented basketball player who died following a tragic crash in Boone County on Wednesday night. Hunter, a beloved junior, was known for his dedication on the court, his positive spirit, and the friendships he built throughout his young life. His sudden passing has left family members, classmates, teammates, coaches, and friends heartbroken.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 124 and Gano Chance Road. Investigators reported that Hull failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a collision involving an SUV driven by a 28-year-old Columbia woman. Authorities said the woman crossed the center line in an attempt to avoid the vehicle, but the SUV struck the rear of Hull’s car. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn multiple times, ejecting Hunter from the car.

Emergency responders rushed Hunter to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A passenger, Keilin Dorman, 18, suffered serious injuries and remained hospitalized following the crash. The SUV driver was also seriously injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Centralia Panthers basketball program remembered Hunter as a valued member of its basketball family whose presence made a lasting impact on everyone around him. Teammates and coaches described him as hardworking, determined, and passionate about the game he loved.

As the community mourns this heartbreaking tragedy, many are remembering Hunter Hull not only for his athletic talent but also for the kindness, character, and joy he brought into the lives of others. Though his life was tragically cut short, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
