Gone Too Soon: Henrico County Mourns 26-Year-Old Hunter Southard After Devastating Motorcycle Crash.

 

The Henrico County community is grieving the tragic loss of 26-year-old Hunter Southard, whose life was cut short in a fatal motorcycle crash on the evening of June 21, 2026.

According to Henrico Police, officers responded at approximately 9:35 p.m. to the intersection of North Airport Drive and Airport Place after receiving reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. When first responders arrived, they found Southard in the roadway suffering from severe traumatic injuries. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Southard was traveling northbound on North Airport Drive when his motorcycle collided with a Hyundai Genesis that was traveling southbound and attempting to make a left turn onto Airport Place. The impact was catastrophic, ending a young life and leaving family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken.

Authorities stated that the driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and has been cooperating fully with investigators. Police currently believe that neither speed nor alcohol were factors on the part of the Hyundai driver, though the investigation remains ongoing.
