Highway 421 Heartbreak: Matthew Gabbard Killed in Fatal Rockcastle County Crash.

A tragic crash in Rockcastle County has claimed the life of Matthew Gabbard, 45, of McKee, following a devastating two-vehicle collision on Highway 421 near Big Hill. Authorities say Gabbard was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe when it was struck by a pickup truck that crossed into his lane during the early morning hours of June 23. Despite being rushed to CHI Saint Joseph Hospital in Berea for treatment, Gabbard later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner.

According to investigators, Rockcastle County Deputy John Root responded to the crash scene shortly before 5 a.m. Initial findings indicate that a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by 25-year-old Kevin Wilson of McKee crossed into the path of Gabbard’s vehicle, causing the deadly collision. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and worked to provide aid to those involved.
