The sudden death of 27-year-old Jeffrey Bowman of Southington, Connecticut, has left family members, friends, and those who knew him grappling with grief following a tragic wrong-way crash in Massachusetts early Saturday morning. According to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Bowman lost his life after his vehicle collided head-on with another car while traveling in the wrong direction on Route 146.
Massachusetts State Police reported that the incident began around 12:43 a.m. when troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Bowman’s vehicle along Interstate 90 westbound. Authorities said the driver fled after a trooper approached the vehicle, prompting police to issue a BOLO, or “be on the lookout,” alert. Roughly twelve minutes later, officers located the vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes of Route 146.
The pursuit came to a devastating end when Bowman’s vehicle struck another passenger car in a head-on collision. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Bowman succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle survived and was reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
