A Life That Defied the Odds: Remembering Mark Donald Kosmak’s Strength, Service, and Heart.
Mark Donald Kosmak passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2026, in Dadeville, Alabama, at the age of 63, leaving behind a legacy defined by resilience, service, and an unwavering love for life. Born on October 28, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, Mark carried with him a spirit that naturally drew people in—grounded in hard work, loyalty, humor, and a genuine desire to help others.
After graduating from Burbank High School, Mark answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. As a mechanic and crew chief working on C-5 and C-141 aircraft, his service took him across the world, including time spent in Greece and Turkey. After four years of honorable service, his life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with stage four terminal cancer at just 30 years old. Given only months to live, Mark chose to fight. Through experimental treatment in Atlanta, he not only endured but overcame the odds, becoming a true testament to perseverance.
Even during recovery, Mark refused to stand still. He channeled his mechanical talents into marine repair, eventually opening his own shop, and later served his community with the Tallapoosa County Engineers Office. Whether fixing engines or helping neighbors, Mark was the person people could always rely on.
He found peace at Lake Martin, where his love for nature, music, children, and animals reflected his gentle soul. Mark’s life was not just lived—it was fought for, shared, and given selflessly to others.
