Fatal Shooting on San Antonio’s West Side, Investigation Underway After Ricardo Contreras Identified.
Authorities in San Antonio are investigating a tragic early-morning homicide after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head outside a West Side business on Thursday. The incident has left the local community shaken as police continue searching for answers.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 3:00 a.m. to a business located in the 1200 block of Historic Old Highway 90 near Acme Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying on the ground in front of the store. Emergency medical personnel responded quickly, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that evening, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 36-year-old Ricardo Contreras. Officials confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide, intensifying concerns about violence in the area.
Investigators also revealed that a vehicle believed to belong to Contreras was found nearby with multiple bullet holes in its windshield, suggesting the possibility of a targeted or escalating encounter. However, details surrounding what led to the shooting remain unclear.
At this time, authorities have not released information about any suspects. Detectives are expected to review surveillance footage from the business in hopes of uncovering crucial evidence that could lead to an arrest.
