Sarah Goldberg, 34, of Morrisville, Vermont, has been identified as the woman found dead in the Lamoille River—an unexpected and heartbreaking tragedy that has left her loved ones and the surrounding community in deep sorrow.
On Saturday, just before 2 p.m., deputies with the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department were called to the area near Flat Iron Road in Wolcott after reports of a person in the water. When first responders arrived, they were met with a devastating scene—Sarah was found floating face down in the river, her peaceful outing turned into an unthinkable loss.
She was quickly recovered from the water and transported to Copley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. An autopsy confirmed her identity, bringing a painful sense of closure to a situation filled with shock and unanswered questions.
