JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Forty-nine-year-old Edwin Barber, 27-year-old Savannah Barber, and 37-year-old Shad Cole were tragically killed in a triple stabbing in Jacksonville, while 30-year-old Austin Fisher has been arrested and charged in connection with their deaths, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the investigation began around 3 a.m. when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies found Edwin Barber suffering from a serious stab wound after he reportedly managed to flee the attack and seek help at a neighbor’s residence. Emergency responders rushed to provide medical assistance before transporting him to a local hospital.
As officers continued searching the area, they discovered two additional victims at nearby residences. Investigators identified them as Savannah Barber, 27, and Shad Cole, 37. Both victims had sustained multiple stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Despite medical efforts to save him, Edwin Barber later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, bringing the death toll to three.
Following an intensive investigation, authorities identified Austin Fisher as the primary suspect. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Fisher was located Thursday at a motel in the Normandy Village area. Law enforcement officers, including a SWAT team, responded to the location, resulting in an hours-long standoff before Fisher was ultimately taken into custody.
Fisher now faces three counts of second-degree murder as well as one count of armed robbery.
The shocking violence has left family members, friends, and the Jacksonville community grieving the loss of three lives. As investigators continue gathering evidence and working to determine what led to the deadly attack, loved ones are remembering Edwin Barber, Savannah Barber, and Shad Cole while seeking answers in the wake of this heartbreaking tragedy.
