Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Blooming Grove barracks responded to the residence early Tuesday afternoon after receiving a request for assistance from Pike County Mental Health/Mental Development officials. Authorities had been asked to conduct a welfare check at the home as part of a mental health-related response.

According to dispatch reports, multiple gunshots were reported shortly after 12:30 p.m., prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
