Springs Tragedy, East Hampton Police Identify Man Found Deceased in Clearwater Beach Woods.
The East Hampton Town police have confirmed the identity of a man found dead in the woods in Clearwater Beach, Springs, on Tuesday afternoon. deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Ian Nathanson, a resident of the property on Lion Head Rock Road in the Clearwater neighborhood. The discovery was made around 1 p.m. when a passing motorist spotted Nathanson’s body in a wooded area and immediately contacted law enforcement. A duty lieutenant at East Hampton Town police described the situation as an “active investigation” but declined to comment further.
Animal control personnel also assisted at the scene as the body was carefully loaded onto a stretcher. Investigators placed a small yellow plastic sheet on the ground near the body, while life in the neighborhood went on, including a child playing soccer across the street. Neighbors reported hearing a truck racing through the area earlier in the afternoon, though it remains unclear whether this was related to the incident.
