ST. ALBANS, Queens — Jaden Pierre, 15, is being remembered by a grieving community after he was fatally shot in Roy Wilkins Park, where loved ones gathered for a vigil in his honor at the very المكان where his life was tragically taken. The emotional gathering brought together family, friends, community leaders, and officials, all standing in solidarity to mourn a young life lost far too soon.
According to police, the incident began as an argument among a group of teenagers that quickly escalated into a physical fight. Sources indicate the gathering may have originally been intended as a water gun event near the basketball courts. However, the situation spiraled out of control, ending in gunfire. Jaden was shot in the chest and rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators are reviewing cellphone footage that reportedly shows a group of teens assaulting Jaden before the shooting occurred. Authorities have not yet announced an arrest, but officials are urging the person responsible to come forward.
During the vigil, speakers, including community leaders and public officials, called for justice and an end to senseless violence. Attorney General Letitia James delivered a direct message, urging the shooter to surrender, emphasizing that violence only leads to more pain.
Jaden’s father, overcome with grief, shared heartfelt words about his son, describing him as his everything. As candles flickered and prayers were offered, the community stood united—mourning, remembering, and demanding change in the face of tragedy.
