Authorities in Stockton have arrested a 61-year-old woman after the death of an elderly resident was officially ruled a homicide. The arrest follows an investigation that began late Friday morning when emergency crews responded to a troubling call at a home on Woodland Drive.

According to the Stockton Police Department, officers were dispatched after firefighters reported finding an unresponsive adult woman inside the residence. When police arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the 83-year-old victim had died under circumstances they described as suspicious. Detectives and crime scene investigators immediately began processing the scene in an effort to determine what had happened.
