A tragic incident in New Caney has left the community mourning after 32-year-old Goodson Brittany lost their life in what authorities are investigating as a fatal bicycle crash. According to reports, the victim left home sometime after 9:30 p.m. with the intention of riding a bicycle to a nearby convenience store located off Loop 494. Unfortunately, the trip was never completed, and concern grew when the individual failed to return home.
The following morning, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a passerby discovered a body hidden within heavy brush in a ditch along the northbound side of Loop 494, just south of State Highway 99. Emergency responders and law enforcement officers were immediately notified and arrived at the scene to begin their investigation.
Authorities reported that the bicycle involved in the incident had sustained severe damage, indicating that a significant collision or impact may have occurred. Sadly, Goodson Brittany was pronounced deceased at the scene. The exact circumstances leading to the fatal crash remain under investigation, and officials have not yet released details regarding whether another vehicle may have been involved.
As investigators worked to gather evidence and reconstruct the events leading up to the tragedy, portions of Loop 494 were closed for several hours, causing traffic disruptions throughout the area. The investigation is being led by the Texas Department of Public Safety, with assistance from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
