Authorities continue to investigate a fatal bicycle crash that claimed the life of 32-year-old Goodson Brittani in the New Caney area.
According to preliminary information, Brittani left his home near Loop 494 sometime after 9:30 p.m. and was riding his bicycle to a nearby convenience store. Tragically, he never reached his destination.
The following morning, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a passerby discovered Brittani’s body in heavy brush located in a ditch on the northbound side of Loop 494, just south of SH 99. Emergency responders were called to the scene, where they confirmed that the bicyclist was deceased.
Investigators reported that Brittani’s bicycle was severely damaged, indicating that a significant collision may have occurred. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation as authorities work to determine exactly what happened during the hours between his departure from home and the discovery of the scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the incident and closed portions of Loop 494 for several hours while investigators gathered evidence and documented the scene. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit is assisting DPS with the ongoing investigation.
The death of Goodson Brittani has left family members, friends, and community residents seeking answers. As investigators continue their work, authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying any witnesses or individuals who may have information related to the incident.
DPS encourages anyone who may have seen Brittani riding his bicycle that evening, observed suspicious activity in the area, or possesses dashcam footage from Loop 494 near SH 99 to come forward.
