Deadly Crash and DUI Charges: Carroll County Tragedy Claims Life of Luis Mayoral Moguel.

Kentucky State Police have charged a man with vehicular homicide and DUI following a devastating crash in Carroll County that claimed the life of 31-year-old Luis Mayoral Moguel of Glencoe. The incident, which occurred Wednesday morning on Jay Louden Road, has left a community grieving while raising serious concerns about impaired driving.

According to investigators, 33-year-old Luis Antonio Orduno, of Mexico, was behind the wheel when he lost control of the vehicle, veering off the right side of the road. Authorities say the vehicle struck a nearby building, as well as a gas meter and a metal dumpster, causing significant damage. Evidence at the scene suggests that Orduno was traveling well over the speed limit at the time of the crash.

Moguel, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His sudden and tragic death has left loved ones in mourning, as they grapple with the loss of a life cut short under such preventable circumstances.

Court documents reveal that Orduno appeared awake and alert when deputies arrived but showed signs of alcohol use. He admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving. A preliminary test later indicated his blood alcohol concentration was 0.184—more than twice the legal limit. Authorities also confirmed that Orduno did not possess a valid driver’s license or required insurance.

Orduno now faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide while under the influence, aggravated DUI, and criminal mischief. He is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center and is scheduled for arraignment on April 22 as the investigation continues.
