Tragedy in Baton Rouge: Community Mourns 15-Year-Old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather as Murder Arrest Made.

 

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Baton Rouge community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 15-year-old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather after authorities confirmed that the teenager, who had been missing for more than two weeks, has been found deceased. Baton Rouge Police announced on Saturday, June 20, that 50-year-old Maurice Parms has been arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder in connection with Ja’Derrius’ death.

According to investigators, Ja’Derrius was last seen around 2 a.m. on June 5 in Baton Rouge. His disappearance sparked concern among family members, friends, and residents who hoped for his safe return. As days turned into weeks, the search for the missing teenager became a painful waiting period filled with uncertainty and fear.

The announcement of his death has left many devastated. On Saturday evening, police conducted a perp walk for Parms at the Violent Crime Unit office located at Louisiana State Police headquarters on Independence Boulevard.
