Lubbock Shooting Arrest, Nathan Herrera, 20, Charged in Apartment Gunfire Incident.
LUBBOCK, Texas — Nathan Herrera, 20, was arrested on March 3 in connection with a March 1 shooting at apartments in the 1300 block of 65th Drive, according to Lubbock Police Department (LPD) officials. New details from court documents shed light on the violent incident that left multiple residents shaken.
Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired, discovering that bullets had struck several apartments. Victims described sitting in their living rooms when gunfire began hitting the exterior of their homes. LPD documented two bullet holes in a first-floor window, one in a door, and one in an upstairs bedroom. Residents in a neighboring apartment also reported hearing gunfire and found a second-story window damaged.
A witness provided footage from a doorbell camera that showed two men carrying firearms, including an AR-style pistol with an extended magazine. The video captured the men approaching the apartments, aiming their weapons, and firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. Investigators recovered 63 bullet casings of two different calibers.
Following analysis of the footage, authorities identified Herrera as one of the shooters. He was charged with four counts of deadly conduct by discharging a deadly weapon. An arrest warrant was issued and served on March 3. During his arrest, Herrera was found in possession of several narcotics, leading to additional charges.
Herrera remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a bond totaling $177,000. Police continue to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in the ongoing case.
