Vincent Morrissette Identified in Burned Vehicle, Winnipeg Police Charge Suspect in Homicide Investigation.
Authorities in Winnipeg are actively investigating a disturbing homicide case after the remains of 57-year-old Vincent Morrissette were discovered inside a burned vehicle earlier this month. The case, now being handled by the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit, has left the community shaken as new details continue to emerge.
Police say the incident began on March 13, 2026, shortly after 1:50 p.m., when officers recovered a vehicle in the 600 block of Jarvis Avenue that was believed to have been intentionally set on fire. Upon further investigation, authorities made the grim discovery of human remains inside the vehicle, later identified as Morrissette.
Investigators have since determined that a physical altercation between Morrissette and another individual occurred earlier in the 200 block of Salter Street, prior to the vehicle being set ablaze. The sequence of events has raised serious concerns, pointing to a violent confrontation that escalated into a fatal outcome.
On March 15, police arrested a suspect in connection with the case. The following day, 32-year-old Fabian Gerald Michelle was formally charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding Morrissette’s death. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that even the smallest detail could prove critical in bringing clarity and justice to this tragic case.
