A quiet coastal neighborhood in Hermosa Beach has been shaken by a disturbing and unusual case following the death of 92-year-old developer Demetrius Doukoullos. Authorities say the elderly man was found dead inside his home on The Strand after police were called for a welfare check when he had not been heard from for several days.
According to the Hermosa Beach Police Department, officers arrived at the residence and made the grim discovery of Doukoullos’ body, which investigators believe had been there for multiple days. Inside the home, they also encountered a 39-year-old suspect who did not reside at the property.
The situation quickly escalated when the individual became uncooperative, made statements suggesting they might be armed, and barricaded themselves inside the residence. The unusual scene intensified further as the suspect, reportedly dressed in a dark suit, tie, sunglasses, and a fedora, refused to comply with officers.
