Gone Too Soon: Remembering William Huntington After a Tragic Motorcycle Accident in Darke County.

 

The Darke County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of William Huntington, a 57-year-old Greenville resident whose life was tragically cut short in a fatal motorcycle accident late Friday night. Family, friends, and neighbors are now left grieving the sudden passing of a man whose presence touched many lives.

According to a press release from local authorities, the accident occurred on June 12, 2026, at approximately 11:17 p.m. Deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, along with Ansonia Rescue, the North Star Fire Department, and CareFlight personnel, responded to the 7200 block of North Star-Ft. Loramie Road following reports of a crash involving serious injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Huntington was riding a black 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on North Star-Ft. Loramie Road when he struck a deer that had entered the roadway. The impact caused him to be ejected from the motorcycle. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Huntington was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Darke County Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team assisted in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
