Murder Suspect Arrested, Manchester Man Held in Killing of Czech National Michal Malý in Spain.
A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the murder of Michal Malý, the 33-year-old Czech national who was fatally shot in Torrevieja on March 1. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old British man from Manchester, believed to be the main suspect in the killing.
According to the Civil Guard, the suspect was apprehended last week at the parking area of Region of Murcia International Airport as he allegedly prepared to flee the country. Investigators discovered suitcases, clothing, and his passport in the trunk of his car, further reinforcing suspicions of an attempted escape. He is now in judicial custody following his arrest.
Authorities revealed that the suspect had already come under scrutiny days after the crime, identified as a resident of Torre-Pacheco with a prior criminal record, including assault and illegal possession of firearms offenses in 2024. His arrest follows an intensive two-week investigation during which multiple individuals were questioned.
Malý, a former wrestler, was shot in the temple around 1:00 a.m. and later discovered by tourists walking along Rocío de Mar beach. Emergency services transported him to hospital, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect has since been brought before a court in Murcia, which has ordered his imprisonment. Meanwhile, the Court of First Instance in Torrevieja continues to lead the investigation under strict confidentiality as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances behind this shocking crime.
