Southeast Dallas Apartment Shooting,One Man Killed and Teen Injured as Police Search for Gunman.
A late-night shooting at an apartment complex in Dallas has left one man dead and a teenage boy hospitalized, prompting an ongoing homicide investigation by local authorities. The violent incident unfolded Saturday night, March 7, at an apartment complex located in the 3400 block of Great Trinity Forest Way in Southeast Dallas.
According to police, officers responded to reports of gunfire sometime between 10:29 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered 27-year-old Devodrick Lamont Franklin lying in a doorway suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency responders from Dallas Fire-Rescue quickly transported Franklin to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities also located a second victim at the scene, a 16-year-old male who had sustained serious injuries during the shooting. The teenager was rushed to a hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition, offering a small measure of relief amid the tragedy.
Preliminary findings from investigators suggest that a male suspect opened fire inside one of the apartments before fleeing the scene. Crime scene technicians carefully processed the area and recovered multiple shell casings both inside and outside the apartment unit, indicating that several shots were fired during the incident.
