RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two people were found deceased during a welfare check at a home in the 4000 block of Summit Road on March 25, 2026. Deputies were dispatched to the residence at approximately 3:18 p.m. after a request was made to check on the occupants’ wellbeing.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to make contact but received no response. While checking the exterior of the property, they observed an individual slumped over in a chair inside the living room through a window. Due to the urgent nature of the situation, deputies made forced entry into the home.

Inside, deputies located two deceased individuals. The scene was secured, and detectives from the Sheriff’s Office responded to begin processing evidence and conducting an initial investigation. Authorities later determined that both individuals had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

The female victim was identified as Connie S. Edens, born October 12, 1947, who sustained a single gunshot wound to the back. The male victim was identified as Donald A. Edens, born December 7, 1955, who sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.

Sheriff Bruce D. Zuchowski described the situation as tragic and extended condolences to the family and loved ones affected. He stated that detectives are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and seek answers.
