Gone Too Soon, The Tragic Passing of Pawl “Tik” Taylor-Willett After Devastating House Fire.

Pawl Taylor-Willett, affectionately known as Tik, was just 16 years old when his life was tragically cut short following a devastating fire at his family home in Cornwall. Months after suffering catastrophic injuries, Tik passed away on April 25 at Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Wales, leaving behind a grieving family and a community in shock.

An inquest held in Truro revealed the heartbreaking details surrounding the incident. On January 26, Tik had been outside working on his motorbike, something he loved and often did at home. Earlier that day, he and his grandmother had prepared their Parkray fire in the lounge, as part of their usual routine to keep the house warm. Unbeknownst to them, a chain of tragic events was about to unfold.

Tik’s grandmother, Eve Mills, recalled hearing a loud crash before discovering flames spreading rapidly at floor level. As she struggled to escape, she saw Tik with what initially appeared to be small flames on his clothing. Moments later, he screamed that he was on fire and ran outside, where neighbors rushed to help, rolling him on the grass and wrapping him in wet blankets.

Despite their efforts, Tik had suffered burns to over 90 percent of his body. His injuries were later confirmed as the cause of death—major burn trauma.

Investigators found an open petrol can and traces of accelerant in the lounge, but the exact cause of ignition remains unknown. While possibilities such as a lighter or vape device were considered, no definitive trigger was identified. Authorities ruled out foul play, and the coroner recorded the death as accidental.

Described as a “lovely boy” with dreams of becoming a barber, Tik’s loss is deeply felt. His story is a painful reminder of how quickly life can change. Rest in peace, Tik ❤️
