WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who was found unresponsive inside a vehicle in west Wichita on Monday afternoon. The discovery has left many in the community searching for answers as officials work to determine what led to the tragic outcome.

According to Andrew Ford, Chief Public Information Officer for the Wichita Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:19 p.m. to the 3900 block of West University, near Maple and West, following reports of a person passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Upon arrival, police and emergency medical services assessed the situation and confirmed that the individual, identified as Tyler Haag of Wichita, had died at the scene.

Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that there were no visible signs of trauma, suggesting that the death may not have involved violence. However, officials have emphasized that the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. The Sedgwick County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct a thorough examination to establish what happened.
