Tonya Hedrick Charged in Fatal Fayette County Crash, DUI Allegations Follow Deadly Two-Vehicle Collision.
A tragic crash in Fayette County, West Virginia, has left one person dead and another facing serious criminal charges, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the حادث. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, near the intersection of Glen Ferris Loop and U.S. Route 60.
According to Sheriff Mike McMullen, the preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV entered Route 60 and collided with a westbound Jeep. A witness at the scene reported seeing the SUV pull directly into the path of the oncoming Jeep moments before the crash, leaving little time for either driver to react.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported a passenger from the SUV to a nearby hospital. Tragically, that individual later succumbed to their injuries. The driver and passengers of the Jeep were also taken to the hospital for treatment, though their current conditions have not been disclosed.
Authorities identified the SUV driver as Tonya Hedrick. While receiving medical attention, deputies reportedly observed a white powdery substance in her nostril, raising concerns about possible impairment. Investigators conducted field sobriety tests and later obtained a search warrant for a blood sample to further assess her condition at the time of the crash.
Tonya Hedrick has since been charged with the felony offense of DUI causing death and is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail as she awaits further court proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine all factors involved in this devastating incident.
