According to the Rome Police Department, officers were dispatched around 8:25 a.m. on April 1, 2026, to the 200 block of East Dominick Street after receiving a report of an unresponsive person. Upon arrival, officers discovered Michael in a small wooded area near Railroad Street. He was found unresponsive and suffering from a puncture wound to the chest.

Despite emergency response efforts, Michael J. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later confirmed his identity and have since classified the case as a homicide.
