Anthony Leyva Found Stabbed in Walgreens Parking Lot, Homicide Investigation Underway.
EL MONTE — A quiet Sunday morning was shattered by a grim discovery when 59-year-old Anthony Leyva was found suffering from fatal stab wounds in a Walgreens parking lot, prompting a homicide investigation that has left the community searching for answers. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred in the 3600 block of Peck Road just after 7:30 a.m. on April 12, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later ruled Leyva’s death a homicide, confirming the violent nature of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the fatal attack remain unclear, and investigators have yet to determine what led to the deadly encounter.
Deputies responded to the scene following reports of an unresponsive individual in the parking lot. Upon arrival, they discovered Leyva with critical injuries consistent with a stabbing. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a tragic end to an incident that unfolded in a typically routine commercial area.
As of now, authorities have not confirmed whether a suspect has been identified or taken into custody. Detectives are actively working to piece together the events leading up to the killing, reviewing evidence and seeking potential witnesses who may have been in the area at the time.
