Medical Examiner Confirms Cause of Death, Staten Island Man Jean Cerrato Found Dead Near South Beach Psychiatric Center.
Authorities in Staten Island have confirmed the cause of death for a 56-year-old man who was discovered unresponsive on a busy South Beach street earlier this month. The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death of Jean Cerrato, a resident of Great Kills, as suicide.
According to the New York Police Department, officers responded to a report on the evening of March 3 regarding an individual found unresponsive in the area opposite 777 Seaview Avenue, near the intersection with Capodanno Boulevard. When authorities arrived at the scene, they located Cerrato and determined that he had died. Emergency responders were unable to revive him.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and officially classified the manner of death as suicide. Officials did not release additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The location where Cerrato was found is near the South Beach Psychiatric Center, a well-known mental health facility in the area. However, authorities have not indicated whether Cerrato had any connection to the center or was receiving services there at the time.
