The tragic death of 52-year-old Scott B. Piché of New Bedford has left family, friends, and community members grieving the loss of a man remembered for his dedication, kindness, and hardworking spirit. Authorities have announced the arrest of 22-year-old Jacob Larsen of Avon, Massachusetts, in connection with the fatal motorcycle crash that claimed Piché’s life on Friday night in Raynham.
According to investigators, emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of South Street East and Hill Street shortly before midnight following reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV. Upon arrival, officers discovered Piché’s black Harley-Davidson motorcycle with severe front-end damage. He was found in the roadway suffering from critical injuries and was transported to Morton Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The heartbreaking loss has deeply affected those who knew Piché. Friends describe him as a dependable and caring individual who worked hard and always made time for the people he loved. His sudden passing has created an immeasurable void in the lives of his family, coworkers, and loved ones, who are now left to cherish the memories he created throughout his life.
Investigators also located a white Ford Explorer at the scene. The driver, Jacob Larsen, remained on-site and cooperated with authorities. Officials later revealed that Larsen’s driver’s license had been suspended due to a pending Operating Under the Influence case. Following the investigation, he was charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation, Operating a Motor Vehicle While License Suspended for OUI, Marked Lanes Violation, and Failure to Yield.
As legal proceedings move forward, many are reflecting on the life of Scott B. Piché rather than the circumstances of his death. His memory lives on through the countless lives he touched and the love he shared with those around him. While justice is being pursued, family and friends continue to mourn a man whose life ended far too soon but whose legacy will never be forgotten.
