Wrong Man Killed in Wakefield Drive-By, Three Men Convicted Over Fatal Shooting of Dale “Brett” Stogden.

Three men have been convicted in connection with the fatal drive-by shooting of Dale Stogden in Wakefield, a case that prosecutors say involved a violent search for rival targets that tragically ended with the death of an unintended victim.

Following a two-week trial at Leeds Crown Court, Leyton Davies, 28, of no fixed address, was found guilty of murder. His co-defendants, Adam Ahmed, 21, of Robin Hood Crescent in Wakefield, and Marc Carter, 20, formerly of Dunbar Street, were each convicted of manslaughter. All three had earlier pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, including heroin and cocaine. A sentencing date for all offences will be scheduled at a later time.

Police were called to Doncaster Road shortly before 9:45 p.m. on August 12, 2025, after reports that a man had been shot from a passing vehicle. Stogden, known to friends as Brett, had been standing near a bus stop outside a BP petrol station when the shooting occurred. He was rushed to hospital but died from a single gunshot wound just after 10:30 p.m.

Evidence presented during the investigation by West Yorkshire Police revealed that Stogden was likely not the intended target. Detectives believe two other men who were present fled the scene and may have been the individuals the suspects were searching for earlier that day.

CCTV footage showed the defendants driving around the Agbrigg area for hours before the attack in a stolen Toyota RAV4 fitted with cloned license plates. Investigators said Ahmed drove the vehicle while Carter sat in the front passenger seat and Davies sat behind him. After passing the group once, the vehicle turned around, slowed, and Davies fired a single shot from the open window before the suspects sped away.

The vehicle was later found abandoned on Dunbar Street, and the suspects were arrested days later. Authorities say the firearm used was likely a converted blank-firing pistol capable of firing a metal projectile.

Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said the case underscores the dangers of illegally modified weapons and the devastating consequences of violent criminal disputes.

Cold Case Breakthrough After 56 Years, 1970 Allegany County Victim Identified as Clyde A. Coppage Through DNA.

After more than five decades of unanswered questions, investigators have finally identified a man whose body was discovered in a disturbing 1970 case in western New York. Authorities announced that the victim found on March 20, 1970, along Davis Hill Road in the Town of Andover has now been identified as Clyde A. Coppage.

According to the New York State Police, the victim’s body was discovered without a head or hands in Allegany County. The shocking discovery left investigators with few clues, making identification extremely difficult at the time. Despite extensive efforts and numerous investigative leads over the years, authorities were unable to determine who the victim was, leaving the case unresolved for decades.

In a renewed effort to solve the mystery, officials authorized the exhumation of the victim’s remains on June 7, 2022. The process allowed forensic specialists to collect DNA evidence that could potentially identify the man. Working alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation, investigators used advanced forensic genetic technology to analyze the DNA sample.

Through these efforts, the victim was ultimately identified as Clyde A. Coppage, who was 35 years old at the time of his death. Authorities determined that Coppage had been living in Genesee when he disappeared. Investigators also revealed that he was not originally from the area and, notably, had never been officially reported missing.

While identifying Coppage brings long-awaited clarity to the case, many questions still remain unanswered. Authorities say the investigation into his death is still open and active as detectives continue working to determine what happened to him more than 50 years ago.

Hero Lost at Home, Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, Decorated Army Officer and ODU ROTC Leader, Killed in Campus Terror Attack.

The victim of the recent terrorist attack at Old Dominion University has been identified as Brandon Shah, a highly decorated U.S. Army officer and respected professor who dedicated much of his life to serving his country and mentoring the next generation of military leaders. Shah, who held the rank of lieutenant colonel, served as Professor of Military Science and led the university’s ROTC program, where he played a crucial role in shaping future officers.

Lt. Col. Shah’s military career was marked by courage, leadership, and sacrifice. Over the years, he deployed to several overseas missions, including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Atlantic Resolve. Through these deployments, he served in dangerous combat environments and worked alongside fellow service members to protect national and global security.

His service was recognized with numerous prestigious military awards. Among them were two Bronze Stars, a distinction awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement in a combat zone. He also received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal with Valor, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal, among others. In addition, Shah earned specialized qualifications such as the Senior Army Aviator Badge, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge—testaments to both his skill and dedication.

Friends, colleagues, and students at Old Dominion University described him as a leader who cared deeply about his cadets and worked tirelessly to guide them toward successful military careers. Many said he was admired not only for his decorated service but also for his humility, discipline, and commitment to mentorship.

The tragedy has left the university community and military family grieving the loss of a man who survived the dangers of war abroad, only to be killed in violence at home. Lt. Col. Brandon Shah’s legacy of service, courage, and leadership will continue to inspire those who knew him and those who follow in his footsteps.
