Deadly Dispute on Lyell Avenue, Rochester Police Investigate Murder of Curtis Wilson.
A quiet stretch of Lyell Avenue in Rochester, N.Y. turned into an active crime scene Thursday morning after police discovered the body of a 40-year-old man on a porch near Cameron Street. Authorities have now confirmed the death is being investigated as a homicide.
According to the Rochester Police Department, officers responded around 7:30 a.m. to reports of a body outside a residence. Upon arrival, they found Curtis Wilson, a Rochester resident, unresponsive on a porch attached to a vacant apartment. Crime scene tape quickly surrounded the property as investigators marked evidence and canvassed the area for clues.
Police say preliminary findings suggest an argument may have led up to Wilson’s death. However, no arrests have been announced, and authorities have not disclosed the cause of death. The case was officially ruled a homicide following an examination by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators noted that the house contains several vacant units, which are often used by homeless individuals and people struggling with substance abuse. The porch where Wilson was found is connected to one such unoccupied apartment, raising further questions about the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
As detectives continue gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses, the community is left searching for answers. The Rochester Police Department is urging anyone with information, including surveillance footage or cellphone video from the area, to call 911 immediately.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities determined to uncover what sparked the deadly confrontation and to bring those responsible to justice.
