Big Spring Double Homicide: Willis Duval and Marcus Pena Found Shot Dead, Ruben Gonzales Charged With Capital Murder.

 

BIG SPRING, Texas — Forty-four-year-old Willis Duval and 23-year-old Marcus Pena were tragically found shot to death Friday in Big Spring, while 22-year-old Ruben Gonzales has since been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the deadly incident, according to the Big Spring Police Department.

Authorities said officers responded to the 1600 block of Oriole Street after receiving reports of shots being fired in the area. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered both victims lying in a front yard suffering from gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews from Big Spring Fire Department and Allegiance EMS rushed to provide life-saving measures, but officials confirmed that both Duval and Pena died from their injuries at the scene.

Following the discovery, the Big Spring Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, identification personnel, and Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers launched an extensive investigation into the double homicide. Investigators spent hours gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and following leads connected to the fatal shooting.

According to authorities, the investigation eventually led officers to establish probable cause for the arrest of Ruben Gonzales. Police said Gonzales was taken into custody Saturday around 9:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Canary Street without incident.

He was subsequently booked into the Howard County Detention Center on a capital murder charge.

The tragic deaths of Willis Duval and Marcus Pena have left family members, friends, and the Big Spring community mourning the sudden loss of two lives taken by violence.

Officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.
