Deadly Early Morning Crash in Brevard County: Cynthia Willis Identified as DUI Suspect Following Fatal Interstate 95 Incident.

A tragic crash in Brevard County early Monday morning claimed the life of a 24-year-old man from Rockledge, with authorities identifying 49-year-old Cynthia Willis of Palm Coast as the suspect arrested for driving under the influence. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the deadly incident occurred around 1:05 a.m. on southbound Interstate 95, just south of State Road 528.

Investigators reported that the victim was driving a 2018 Infiniti Q50 in the center lane when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle suddenly veered off the roadway onto the inside paved shoulder. The car struck a guardrail, causing catastrophic damage and sending debris into the roadway. That debris was then struck by a 2026 Volkswagen Taos traveling behind, driven by Willis.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the Infiniti driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Willis and her 4-year-old passenger were not physically harmed. However, following the crash investigation, troopers determined there was probable cause to arrest Willis for driving under the influence, and she was taken into custody and booked into the Brevard County jail.

Authorities continue to investigate the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash, including what caused the Infiniti to leave the roadway. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving and the devastating consequences it can bring to innocent lives.
