Nina Westbrook, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene after a single-vehicle crash near Highway 26 in the Welches area, according to Oregon State Police.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when authorities responded to reports of a serious collision involving a white Dodge Ram. Investigators later identified 39-year-old Alen Hatunic as the driver of the vehicle. Preliminary findings indicate that Hatunic lost control while traveling along the roadway, causing the truck to cross over, pass through a ditch, and ultimately crash head-on into a tree.

Officials noted that the roadway was covered in snow and hail at the time of the crash, conditions that likely contributed to the loss of control. The hazardous weather serves as a reminder of how quickly road conditions can deteriorate and lead to devastating consequences.

Hatunic sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Another passenger, 39-year-old Eugene Bryce Westbrook, was also hospitalized with significant injuries. A two-year-old child who was in the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to recover.
