Joshua E. Collins, a 47-year-old resident of Clayton, tragically lost his life in an overnight UTV crash, according to the Adams County Coroner’s Office. The fatal incident occurred around 12:48 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Highway 24 and West Main Street.
Authorities from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash and discovered an overturned utility terrain vehicle with Collins as the sole occupant. Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coroner Scott Graham confirmed Collins’ identity and stated that a full examination is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary findings indicate that no seatbelt was in use at the time of the crash, and Collins was not wearing a helmet—factors that may have contributed to the severity of the incident.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the rollover, including what may have caused the UTV to overturn. No additional vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.
The tragic loss of Joshua E. Collins has left the small community of Clayton in mourning. Friends, family, and neighbors are remembering him as a valued member of the community whose life was cut short far too soon.
Authorities are reminding the public of the importance of wearing proper safety equipment when operating UTVs and similar vehicles, emphasizing that such precautions can significantly reduce the risk of fatal injuries.
