The Ontario and Mansfield communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Raymond Bernotas, a 69-year-old longtime dentist whose life was tragically cut short following a bicycle crash in Ontario, Ohio. Bernotas succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a collision with an SUV on Park Avenue West on June 11, leaving family, friends, former patients, and colleagues grieving a profound loss.

According to the Ontario Police Department, the crash occurred when Bernotas was attempting to cross Park Avenue West while riding his bicycle. Preliminary findings indicate he was crossing the roadway in a prohibited manner when he was struck by an SUV driven by 81-year-old Mansfield resident Michael Horning, who was traveling westbound at the time.

Emergency responders rushed Bernotas to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital before he was transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus due to the severity of his injuries. Despite the dedicated efforts of medical professionals, he later passed away.
