The Caledonia community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Eva J. Moran, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating three-vehicle crash on Friday evening in Claridon Township, Marion County. The sudden and tragic loss of such a young life has left family members, friends, classmates, and loved ones overwhelmed with grief as they remember a young woman whose future was filled with promise and possibility.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:28 p.m. on May 29 near milepost 21 on State Route 309. Investigators reported that Eva Moran was traveling eastbound when her vehicle collided with the rear of a GMC Acadia that had stopped while waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway. Following the initial impact, her vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the path of an oncoming westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee, resulting in a second, devastating collision.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to assist those involved. Tragically, Eva sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The accident remains under investigation as authorities continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the collision.
