NORTH HILLS, Calif. — Thirty-one-year-old Khajag Basmajian, his 2-year-old son Alec Basmajian, and newborn daughter Ella Basmajian were tragically found dead inside their North Hills home Wednesday night in what authorities are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide involving four family members.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, all three victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds inside the family’s San Fernando Valley residence. Investigators believe the children’s mother was responsible for the shooting before taking her own life. However, officials have not publicly identified the woman pending notification of additional family members. Police confirmed they are not currently searching for any suspects.
The devastating discovery was made after officers responded to the residence Wednesday evening and located the deceased family members inside the home. Detectives immediately launched an extensive investigation as crime scene personnel processed evidence and attempted to piece together the tragic events that unfolded.
The deaths of Alec and newborn Ella have especially shaken the community, with many expressing heartbreak over the loss of two young children whose lives had only just begun.
