A quiet stretch of Highway 308 in Lafourche Parish turned fatal early Monday morning when 29-year-old Kevin Porter of Harvey, Louisiana, lost his life in a devastating single-vehicle crash. According to Louisiana State Police, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near Valentine Drive as Porter was traveling southbound in a 2010 Nissan Altima. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway to the right before violently colliding with a utility pole.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Porter was pronounced dead shortly after the crash. Authorities confirmed that he was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no additional injuries were reported. The sudden loss has left family, friends, and the local community grappling with grief as investigators work to determine what led to the tragic event.
The crash site remained active for several hours Monday morning as officials documented evidence and crews worked to remove the wreckage.
