Missing Brunswick Woman Found Dead, Rebecca Dorr’s Search Ends in Heartbreaking Discovery Near Walking Trails.
Authorities in Brunswick, Maine, say 56-year-old Rebecca Dorr was found dead over the weekend in a wooded area near local walking trails, bringing a heartbreaking end to a search that had stretched on for nearly two months. Dorr was reported missing from her home on Maine Street between the afternoon of January 25 and the morning of January 26, 2026, and officials believed she had walked away on foot and may have been dealing with mental health issues at the time.
Search efforts began soon after she disappeared, but heavy snowfall that arrived the night she went missing made the operation far more difficult. Authorities later suspended the search because of the snow, then resumed it as the weather improved and the spring thaw opened up the area again. On Saturday morning, the Maine Warden Service and the Maine Association for Search and Rescue located Dorr’s body in a wooded area near walking trails.
Police and state officials have said her death does not appear suspicious and that they do not believe foul play was involved. Dorr’s case has also drawn attention because this was her second disappearance in less than a year; she was previously reported missing in August 2025 and was found alive three days later in a remote wooded area. As investigators close this chapter, the Brunswick community is left mourning a woman whose disappearance had been followed with hope, concern, and deep sadness.
